MUSIC FOR WEDDINGS, PARTIES AND OTHER EVENTS

It has been a pleasure over the years to provide music for many functions, and having some live guitar music at a function can bring a real sense of occasion to the event. The music could be used to welcome the guests to the venue; there could be a solo spot during the service or function, and afterwards the music can help to celebrate the event, giving the guests an opportunity to relax and enjoy the day.
When planning the event it is always a good idea to give some consideration as to the location for the music, and allowing also for the positioning of the two  speakers. An alcove, balcony or the corner of a room are ideal positions. A small  table is required for the amplifier and mixer, and two sockets needed to provide the power. The amplification can be very discreet, but is necessary as the solo guitar only has a quiet voice.
The system currently used employs a tiny lapel microphone which is placed directly onto the body of the guitar. This means that there is no need for a cumbersome microphone stand, and as all the music is performed from memory, there is no need either for a music stand. Then the audience view only the guitarist, and this gives a picture of relaxed music music-making.
The music ranges from a selection of classical pieces, Latin -American and Spanish music, and some more popular pieces.
The sound samples featured below will give an idea of the type of repertoire that can be provided: any special requests are welcome, but  will need to be made well in advance of the event to allow for the selected pieces to be studied.
The adjacent photo was taken at a  wedding at Silchester house, and gives an idea of how the music can be positioned effectively.

Some letters of thanks:
"just a note to thank you so much for playing so well for M and myself on Saturday. We had a great day and you contributed to it enormously. thank you very much for agreeing to play at such short notice and for doing it so well."
"we are glad that you enjoyed our wedding and hope that we will be able to keep in touch. Many of our guests thought that you were an old friend of ours!
So that shows how easily you fitted in with ourselves and our friends/family. We were also told of how you continued entertaining in a bar in the local village..some of the guests, who had not heard you the first time, were full of praise of your playing..not to mention the bar staff! "

"just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful music last Saturday, it was just perfect for the occasion Also please accept my apologies as I meant to introduce you to our guests but didn't get aroung to it and next thing you had finished and were leaving. I don't know where the evening went.
Anyway, it really helped make the party what I had hoped for and there were lots of compliments on your music. Once again, thank you"
